Wedding Tips From An Economist →
I had the link in this in the drafts queue, which usually means I had a longer text post I wanted to write. I can no longer remember what that was, so enjoy the article itself, about the economic problems in weddings.
…you and your future husband or wife can sit down at the beginning and try to agree on everything about the wedding. But there’s no way you will think of everything....
Privacy, or Something Like It
Privacy has been on my mind a lot since my honeymoon.
No, I wasn’t concerned about some sort of honeymoon photos getting out. While on our trip, I discovered that an author and a singer were also in New Orleans, from the constant stream of data from they both post to the web. Not only did I know they were in the same city, but I had a rough itinerary of their every day. This, without any...
Papernet
The entirety of this is listed from an email on Bad Signal by Warren Ellis. I’m posting it here because I can’t find a version of it on his blog and I don’t trust gmail as an easy archive of everything anymore.

On Tipping and Charity
I’m a regular reader of Waiter Rant, and his recent article gave rise to two points I specifically have to address.
The first is the main part of the article—the notion that you must tip extra at the holidays at your regular establishment. I have never ever heard of such a thing. I’m curious if this is a larger city thing, a north east corridor thing, or a New York thing.

Invaders From Mars →
Charlie Stross has a great piece on the current climate of political apathy.
Why do we feel so politically powerless? Why is the world so obviously going to hell in a handbasket? Why can’t anyone fix it?
Here’s my (admittedly whimsical) working hypothesis …
WikiLeaks reveals more than just government... →
I wanted to write a post about the ridiculousness of the response to the leaked cables by Wikileaks, but Greenwald does a better job of it.
Mind you, I agree on points about the reaction. I’m still not entirely sure about the leaks themselves, and would love it if someone would send me a reasoned, well thought response against them.
