Startup Weekend
(Oops: So I wrote this up sometime ago, and then never switched it from private to public. I’m a bad, bad blogger. Please put up with me a tad longer.)
Lastweek About a month ago I went to an event called startup weekend. Hell of a time. The basic premise is that in about 54 hours you go from a pitched idea to a finished product. The idea I joined up on, now known as dealcastr didn’t...
A Question For Mr. Gruber (or whoever)
John Gruber today posted a reprise of his article A Wee Bit More on AAC, Ogg, and MP3 that raises an interesting point about the lack of support for Ogg Vorbis in Apple products.
To summarize real fast, his point is that Ogg Vorbis exists in a murky realm of likely nasty patent suits, since there’s a non zero chance that the patent holders on mp3 can cite infringment. Okay, I accept that as...
A Meaningful __eq__
While investigating a bug in a recent project of mine I had the following perplexing experience in my python interpreter:

This didn’t at first glance appear to make any sense. The object here, Token, had a defined __eq__ function, which checked the equality of a small subset of Token’s attributes. So...
Ch-ch-changes!
For the longest time, this has served as a feed of my del.icio.us links, my twitter feed, my flickr feed, my lj feed, and so forth. But I’ve shed lj, and the rest has all gone over to friendfeed, which does a far better job of it all. So from here on in, until I find something better, this has become my blog.
Enjoy the future posts.

Quiet, quiet, fleshy-things. It is too early for your babbling. My brain needs coffee, post-haste.
Playing with Glade. Way better than when I last touched it. Course, the python bindings seem a little glitchy.
Listen to the voodoo space daddy kids: Never look for the answer in your music. Or was that your beer glass? Shit, now I’m all confused.
Why do so many people seem to think you would only use regex’s for checking markup?
The Q died. Back to a non smartphone. Not missing anything but the keyboard. Especially not the data plan costs.

A minor victory: finally got tumblr to work off a subdomain of mine. More a victory of getting off my ass than of figuring things out.

This is a fantastic story behind the Volt, and the real spirit it’s taking GM to push it out. It would be fantastic if GM pulled an Apple with respect to automobiles.
Also OH from the cutest little kid ever: “Don’t make me hate you, Daddy.”
OH this weekend: “There are two ways to do this. You chose the wrong way.”
